In the Spring of 2019, we bought our first registered Alpine doe to supplement our milk supply when our family cow had a dry period. Shortly after, we bought another registered Alpine doe to give the first a friend. This then launched me into being completely in love with the Alpine breed. By the Spring of 2020, we had 5 does and a buck. The two original does were American Alpines, but after purchasing a French Alpine buck, we decided we wanted to mainly focus on the Purebred French Alpine variety. Since starting our Alpine breeding program, we have added disease testing for CAE, CL, and Johnes. Our herd has been clean since our first test in 2020! We have also started utilizing artificial insemination, DNA typing, Alpha-S1 Casein testing, Linear Appraisal in 2022, with some showing & milk testing in 2023! Hopefully we will also be adding more showing in the future. We want animals that live long productive lives, are hardy and easily managed, competitive in the ring, and put lots of milk in the pail.

Alpine Breed Standard

"The Alpine dairy goat is a medium to large size animal, alertly graceful, with erect ears, offering all colors and combinations of colors with distinction and individuality of appearance. They are hardy, adaptable animals that thrive in any climate while maintaining good health and excellent production. The hair is medium to short. The face is straight. A Roman nose, Toggenburg color and markings, or all white is discriminated against."

  • "French Alpine" is the same as Purebred Alpine. This purebred herdbook is closed and only has animals descended from the original 22 imported French Alpines in it.

  • "American Alpine" is considered to be full registered alpine status with grading up somewhere in the lineage.
